Family support
This section of our website aims to provide a range of useful resources for students and families in relation to mental health, wellbeing and online safety. If you have concerns, please also contact the academy and speak to a member of the Mountain Rescue team for your child's year group.
Ensuring that students and families are supported is of paramount importance to us at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown, as such , it is important that families are signposted to a range of services that they may require. On this page you will find the following information:

Keeping your child safe online
Students should remember if they have any concerns, they can speak to a member of staff in school to report any worries or concerns. Remember Be Safe Tell Someone!
We know that mental health in children and young people is a growing concern for many with as many as 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing problems with their mental health at least once a year. To ensure you have the best support possible for your child, below are some useful websites which detail support services in Leeds:
Youth in mind: free mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people aged between 10 and 25 within the Leeds area. Support for Young People - Leeds Mind
Mindmate Leeds: MindMate Single Point of Access is there to identify support for children and young people in Leeds with their emotional wellbeing or mental health. It is for all children and young people who have a Leeds GP, of school age and under the age of 18. Mindmate work with a variety of services in order to find the right support. If your child is in mental health crisis, please call 111 and select the mental health option.
Leeds has a range of service that can support you or your child if you’re in crisis or feeling emotional distress. These can all be found here.
If you do access any of these services, please contact the school safeguarding team at info@dixonstc.com to inform us.
We would also like to draw your attention to two mindfulness apps which can help your child to develop support strategies independently, Calm and Headspace. Both apps have options for free trials and also have YouTube channels which have useful exercises on them.
Online safety can be one of the main areas of concern for parents. In the section below you will also find some handy tips for keeping your child safe online with age appropriate advice and guidance. If you have any concerns regarding online safety and how to keep your child safe please contact the academy and ask to speak to a member of the pastoral team.

Emotional and Mental Wellbeing
Kooth, from XenZone, is an online counselling and emotional well-being platform for children and young people, accessible through mobile, tablet and desktop and free at the point of use. | |
Childline provides an online and over the phone 24/7 service to support young people with any worries they may have. | |
Peaces are our in-house mental health support provider in school. Established by Dr Kate Dutton and Barnaby Rhodes this service is only accessed through referrals from the academy. | |
The government NHS website provides information in relation to a range of services available to your child. | |
Barnado's are a charity that supports children and young people who have been abused and help them feel safe again. And we reach out to children at risk of harm, giving them the long-term support they need. |
